RBA’s Batten joins Board of NC Alliance of Public Charter Schools
RBA is proud to announce the recent election of our very own Public Information Officer, Ms. Sawyer Batten, to join the Board of Directors for the NC Alliance of Public Charter Schools. The Alliance represents public charter schools across the state, serving as their advocate in the public and the legislature, as well as providing professional development opportunities and promoting best practices among its members.
Sawyer joins a selection of charter school directors, former legislators, public school officials and other professionals dedicated to improving education in North Carolina. Nearly 100 years of charter operation experience are represented cumulatively on the Alliance board. RBA Founder, Baker Mitchell, is a current and long-time member of the Alliance board, and will serve his final term in July. We congratulate Mr. Mitchell on his several years of volunteered service with the Alliance.
In her new role as a Director, Sawyer hopes to use previous advocacy experience as well as the experience she continues to gain at RBA to help the Alliance identify, articulate, and promote charter school successes to North Carolinians and the General Assembly. Additionally, Sawyer will help the Alliance communicate with member schools about legislative activity affecting them. To stay updated on their work, we encourage you to connect with the NC Alliance for Public Charter Schools on Facebook and Twitter.
